Laser Hair Removal – A Safe and Effective Permanent Hair Removal Procedure

Laser Hair Removal - A Safe and Effective Permanent Hair Removal Procedure

Laser hair reduction is a safe and effective permanent hair removal* procedure. It is much less painful than other depilatory methods such as shaving, waxing, or tweezing and provides a long-term solution for smooth skin.

The pulses of light energy target the melanin in your hair, causing it to heat and destroy the follicle. It’s a safe treatment when performed by a licensed Professional with proper training and experience.

It’s Safe

For people who are tired of shaving, waxing, plucking or threading their unwanted hair, laser hair removal is a safe and permanent solution. In fact, you’ll begin to see your unwanted hairs start to fall out within a week of your first treatment session.

During the procedure a qualified skin care professional moves a handheld device over your unwanted areas. The laser device’s hand piece is cooled to protect your skin. The laser device emits a focused beam of light that heats up and destroys the hair follicle, keeping them from growing new hair.

It’s important to tell your skin care specialist if you are taking photosensitive medication because some medications react with UV light, which is present in all laser treatments. It’s also important to avoid sun exposure before and after your treatment. Your skin might feel sensitive and a little red immediately after the treatment, but this will usually fade. Some clients notice a hair growth reduction after one session, but multiple sessions are recommended for best results.

It’s Effective

Laser hair removal is extremely effective, reducing unwanted hair for permanent results. Unlike shaving, waxing or chemical depilation, laser treatments permanently disable the hair roots so that they cannot grow back thicker, darker or faster.

The laser’s light energy passes through the skin and is absorbed by pigment in the hair follicles, destroying them. Only the hair follicles in the growth (anagen) phase can be treated, so only 1/4 to 1/3 of the hairs will be affected in one treatment session.

Cooling gel pads and a gold plated cooling head are used during the treatment to protect your skin’s surface. The light energy is pulsed for a fraction of a second so the laser does not damage delicate pores and other skin structures. In very rare cases, there may be increased pigmentation or blistering of the skin but these effects rarely last more than a few hours and they are very similar to sunburn. Our med spa uses fourth generation, long wavelength 1064 lasers like the Lutronic Clarity(tm) II which are less likely to cause these side effects than older lasers.

It’s Fast

Unlike shaving, waxing, and plucking, laser hair reduction is quick. Sessions last only minutes for small areas like the upper lip, or up to an hour for larger parts of the body.

Your provider will cleanse the treatment area and apply a gel before gliding a handheld device over your skin. You might feel a slight stinging sensation as the device heats up your hair follicles. However, it’s important to avoid shaving, plucking, or waxing in the weeks before your appointment so that you can reach your full hair removal potential.

The Light Sheer laser is a revolutionary machine that delivers a concentrated beam of light to your unwanted hair follicles. This disables the follicle and prevents it from growing hair. This makes it a safe and effective solution for both men and women who are tired of shaven or waxed skin. You can finally make unwanted hair a thing of the past without shaving or painful waxing!

It’s Comfortable

The light energy from the laser penetrates deep into your skin where hair follicles reside. The follicles are disabled and can no longer produce unwanted hair.

You can expect to experience minimal discomfort during your treatment. A topical numbing cream is applied before your laser session to ensure your comfort. The procedure is quick, and you can return to your regular activities immediately afterwards.

Your skin care professional will advise you of the number of treatments required to achieve your desired results. It is important to follow this treatment schedule as your hair only responds to the laser when it is in the growth phase. It is not advisable to shave or use depilatory products between treatments as this will affect the success of your treatment.

Once you’ve completed your treatment plan, you can enjoy a permanent reduction in unwanted hair and save time and money from buying razors, shaving cream, aftershave products and waxing or threading items. You’ll also save on maintenance appointments that you would otherwise have to make regularly!
